Chapter 191 Darkseid's First Impression of Batman
Chapter 191 Darkseid's First Impression of Batman
In the desolate universe, a massive fleet is advancing silently.
Behind them lay a magnificent sight: a planet ablaze, completely engulfed in flames. All life and vitality had vanished, leaving only a lingering, mournful wail.
Countless Parademons flew out of this planet aboard spaceships. They were once the inhabitants of this planet, some intelligent, some creative, but now they had been transformed into Parademons who had lost their sense of self, becoming part of that massive fleet.
"Disad...Disad...I call to you."
At this moment, the fleet's master, "Steppenwolf," was humbly kneeling before something that resembled a stone tablet—a remote communication device from Apokolips Technology.
Several Parademons flapped their wings and flew across the spacious hall. They landed quietly and fearfully behind the Wild Wolf, prostrating themselves in front of the stone tablet.
As Steppenwolf called, golden flames flowed from the stone statue. Then, metal and ancient, rock-like devices swirled, revealing the other's appearance: it was Desad, the first scientist of Apokolips.
He looked down at the kneeling Steppenwolf.
"Steppenwolf," he said.
"I've read your report. Have you begun your conquest of the Earth?"
"Not yet," Steppenwolf replied. "But I've done some preliminary reconnaissance. This world is falling apart. They are uncivilized, deeply divided, and at war with one another. They are fragmented and vulnerable, and their free will will be stripped away, just like in other worlds."
On Apokolips, Dessaad turned his head to look at Darkseid, who was sitting on the throne next to him and seemed to be resting with his eyes closed.
He turned around and asked the image of the Steppenwolf on the other end of the communication channel, enunciating each word clearly: "Where's the Mother Box?"
"I have located the location of one of the three, the first one to call me after I awoke. It was captured by Earthlings."
The wolf humbly lowered its head:
"They think they're researching that thing, but they're actually just repeatedly activating it. They have no idea what kind of misfortune they're bringing upon themselves."
"Just two more activations are needed for the Mother Box to be fully awakened and begin its irreversible automatic recovery. Once the Mother Box is fully recovered and ready, I can travel directly to Earth through it."
"What about the other two mother boxes?"
Steppenwolf paused for a moment.
"The other two are still asleep."
Desad gave a noncommittal look, and Steppenwolf quickly added:
"But the Parademons will sense their presence. Once the Mother Box is awakened, they can be steadily and mass-produced on Earth, and as the Mother Box awakens to a higher degree, I myself will soon be able to reach there as well."
"The Parademons will traverse every corner of the earth, searching for anyone with the aura of the Mother Box, and then capture them all so I can interrogate them to find out the location of all the Mother Boxes. I will build a fortress on earth, in its name."
He whispered urgently, his voice like sulfur. A soft murmur echoed across the boundless starry sky:
"The whole world will tremble at Darkseid's feet, becoming yet another dazzling jewel adorning his throne. Millions upon millions of beings will call out his name with fear, with weeping, with death and wailing as swift as the wind."
On Apokolips, Dessad glanced at Darkseid on the throne, noticing that he remained unmoved by Steppenwolf's humble flattery.
So he understood, and turned to answer Steppenwolf:
"Very well, mighty Steppenwolf. You could have stood shoulder to shoulder with those great men, but you were banished because of your arrogance."
"Disad..."
Steppenwolf knelt down, crawling two steps: "I kneel before you. Let me beg him, let me take this world in his name and return."
The chief scientist of Apokolips rebuked him mercilessly:
"You betrayed him! Your own family."
"I! I see the mistake I made. I slaughtered those who sought to seize his throne!"
"You still owe him 5 worlds." Seeing that it was about time, Disadard softened his tone slightly and said, "Once you have paid off your debt, he will listen to your pleas."
The Steppenwolf got up from the ground and slowly straightened its body.
"The Mother Box will be found and merged into one; there will be no protector here. This world will fall like the others."
"For Darkseid," Dessaad said.
"For Darkseid."
Steppenwolf responded to him.
But at that moment, Steppenwolf suddenly turned its head.
He saw countless tiny metallic ripples trembling on a stone-like instrument beside him, with dark red energy surging within, flickering like a campfire on a crisp early winter morning, half-extinguished and half-extinguished.
"For the great Darkseid."
He knelt heavily on the ground, bowing deeply to Dessaid: "They have activated the Mother Box, the horns of destruction have sounded, and that world will face their twilight. In the name of Darkseid, ultimate darkness will have mercy on that planet!"
"You've done well, Steppenwolf. Continue your path of destruction," Steppenwolf heard Disadard say. "Destroy this world for Darkseid to please him."
His figure disappeared on the stone tablet. After a burst of sulfurous flames, the stone tablet returned to its calm and still state, leaving only the wasteland wolf kowtowing heavily in place.
"Disad"
The first scientist on Apokolips, who had turned off communications, heard his master calling him.
He bowed his head, leaned on his cane, and walked to the throne of the Dark King, where he bent down.
"My master."
The leaping, surging firelight illuminated his smooth scales, as smooth as those of a snake on Earth, and his eyes, as black as ink.
The Dark King sat sideways on his throne.
He propped his weathered, rock-like face up with one arm, his expression gleaming with interest. When he spoke, his voice resonated with the dying cries of countless worlds.
"Interested in watching what happens on that planet with me?"
Desad heard its master's voice, and in the shadow of its master's throne, a figure stood silently, the "S" on its chest reflecting a faint light.
Disadad looked away.
"It is my greatest honor, my master."
A hazy, booming tunnel suddenly opened up in front of them, revealing the scene inside.
At that moment, the phantom of Steppenwolf appeared before Desad.
The Steppenwolf phantom tried to enter the sonic tunnel, but it seemed to be blocked by a thin membrane, and no matter how hard it tried, it could not squeeze in.
Along with the Steppenwolf phantom, countless Parademons also appeared, the very Parademons from the Steppenwolf's spaceship.
Unlike their leaders who couldn't pass through the passage, these weaker Parademons passed through it with ease. These phantoms projected from the Steppenwolf ship materialized the instant they passed through the sonic tunnel, coming into Darkseid and Dessaed's view.
"Steppenwolf's power has limited his teleportation, my master, but that will soon change," Disad said.
Darkseid waved his hand dismissively, and the phantoms of the Parademons and Steppenwolves vanished without a trace, leaving only the scene on the other side of the passage:
A relentless stream of Parademons assaulted the cramped laboratory, while those who fought against them were burly men wielding lightning, security personnel being slaughtered in a one-sided massacre, and finally, a human wearing a hood with pointed ears.
"Interesting." The Dark Lord paused, seemingly processing some information, then said, "Is his name Batman?"
His gaze lingered on Batman. He watched as aquamarine fibrous tissue emerged from the back of his head, enveloping his buttocks and chin. Then, suddenly, this ordinary Earth human, using nanotechnology, unleashed a bio-force unique to Kryptonians.
"This doesn't make sense," Disad muttered to himself.
If he weren't standing next to Darkseid, fearing he might "lose his dignity before the king," he would have jumped up.
This wasn't because he was impatient. He was a scientist, and even an alien scientist believed in science.
The deeper a scientist goes into scientific research, the greater the impact they will be when they see illogical and anti-intellectual oddities like Chen Tao, such as Brainiac and Disard.
"Interesting. Absolutely fascinating. Did you see that?"
This is the second time Darkseid has repeated this phrase.
Desad was about to reply, but immediately realized that the Dark Lord was not speaking to him.
He saw Mr. or Ms. "S" in the shadow of Darkseid's throne nod slightly, as if in response to Darkseid's question.
Darkseid didn't turn his head, as if he hadn't spoken to anyone at all.
Desad and Darkseid, from the perspective of the Mother Box, quietly watched the battle across the Boom Pipe, the young black man and Shazam attempting to sacrifice themselves, and Batman finally making his decision...
Finally, amidst a violent explosion, as the sonic boom reopened, countless Parademons were sucked back in. Darkseid's body leaned slightly forward, and the next moment, a Batman puppet dummy made of nanobots and Clayface's body tissue tumbled over. It passed through the sonic boom and landed right below the steps of Darkseid's throne.
"Study him, Disadad."
The Dark Lord stood up, intending to end this small "screening": "Perhaps this will be helpful for your subsequent research on Batman himself."
"Yes, my master," said Disad.
"Remember to tell me your conclusion, Dessaed," Darkseid's voice rang in Dessaed's ear. "Pay attention, I'm very interested in Batman."
"It's just a shapeshifting puppet with no purpose. Such things are not uncommon, my master."
"What's truly incredible is Batman," Disadard said. "But before that, I need to fully understand the puppet's construction and biomimetic model..."
But before he could finish speaking, he saw the puppet below suddenly twist its body and then explode into a cloud of smoke, with a black wind rising from the ground!
Within that cloud of mist, it seemed as if countless muds mixed with black nanobots were churning and rolling wildly, constantly transforming into various shapes, revealing a myriad of beautiful women!
"Hehe, hehe, brother, brother! Come play with me~"
"Come in quickly! My pelvis is already impatient!"
"Ouch! Ouch! My butt feels so itchy!"
All sorts of beautiful women constantly transformed within this cloud of mist: human, alien like catfish, with tentacles, without tentacles, goblin-like, and bearing various beastly characteristics. The gene pool from Brainiac granted Mudface ample transformation options, each one revealing their breasts, incomparably beautiful, and exceptionally alluring.
Both Darkseid and Disadad paused for a moment.
It was this brief moment of stagnation that gave the puppet the opportunity to still make a move in the face of two far more powerful enemies.
Bang!
It suddenly expanded and then exploded.
Countless tiny bodily tissues, mixed with metal, fluttered down like a light snowfall, eventually settling into dust.
"..."
Dessard was silent for a moment, then said, "It seems Batman was prepared, my master."
Darkseid walked down the steps.
A deep red Omega effect condensed in his palm.
In an instant, countless tiny particles in the air were locked by the deep red Omega energy and annihilated under Darkseid's manipulation.
"Batman is actually trying to use nanobots to spy on us," Diaz said.
"I knew all that so-called explosions and those illusions... were just a smokescreen."
Darkseid remained silent, continuing to manipulate the Omega energy in silence.
Five or six Parademons standing in the distance were pulled from the horde by crimson energy. Omega energy enveloped their bodies, and as they struggled, tiny specks of dust were drawn from them. The Parademons screamed and then coughed up mouthfuls of blood.
"This truly astonishes me, my master." Dessard quickened his pace, carefully observing the Parademons: "That human from Earth called Batman managed to send these biological tissues into the Parademons' bodies within the short time of the explosion, and become one of them."
He turned around and said respectfully to Darkseid, "But none of this can escape your eyes, my master."
Darkseid remained silent. He summoned dozens more Parademons and did the same to them. When he gathered the small clump of mud-faced biological tissue he had collected from the dozens of Parademons together to give to Dessaard for research, he saw a wisp of black mist rise from the clump of biological tissue, and then, as if it had been rotting for decades, it all died completely.
Darkseid paused in his act of handing the item to Disad.
Disad immediately and observantly flattered, "Ah, great master, you..."
Darkseid remained expressionless. He turned his head, and the red Omega energy found a large number of Batman's nanobots on the nearby mechanical equipment. Then, he used the energy to intercept a message sent into space by the nanobots above Apokolips.
Then, he eliminated a wisp of green plant, two tiny insects, and five small bacteria from Earth in the crevices of the Apokolips rocks not far away.
When Darkseid discovered once again that the bacteria he had crushed were still able to move under the strange force of death, he finally spoke.
"Batman is so annoying."
So said the Dark King.
