Chapter 216: I Am Not The Only One!?
Chapter 216: I Am Not The Only One!?
Jason was standing in front of a person that was capable of controlling the undead and he knew he must acquire this power by any means possible.
Even if it meant killing and devouring this person, he couldn’t explain it but every fibre in his bones was telling him to kill this person.
Jason knew he had to make him let down his guard because it was clear that he was planning to turn Dimitris.
He didn’t turn these people on the floor for some reason and Jason was curious why.
"Do you have voices in your head?" Jason asked; this was to check if he had a system.
"Voices? What are you talking about?" The person responded and Jason didn’t know why but he felt relieved once he heard this.
Jason didn’t know what else this person could know but if he didn’t have a system, it meant everything he learned was on his own making it even more impressive.
"Chronos, is there a way for me to acquire that power without killing him?" Jason asked his system.
He wanted to know if there was an alternative before he considered taking a human life.
He owed his humanity his much because if he did too much, it would be lost forever.
[[No. You must consume the fragment so I can regain my lost knowledge and help you with the information he seeks]]
Chronos responded, Jason sighed because he knew this wouldn’t be an easy task.
The zombies around him; Jason didn’t know what skill they possessed nor the skills that this person before him had.
He had mastered his fragment to a degree that Jason never thought possible so what else could he do with the fragment?
"What do you plan on doing with him?" Jason asked and the person was already within Dimitris’ proximity.
Jason lowered his gun because he wanted to see, this was a gamble because this person could easily harbor ill intentions towards his superior but his guts told him otherwise even with the evidence that surrounded him.
The person crouched down and began to inspect Dimitris like he was looking for something but upon inspecting him, it was like Dimitris’ body reacted subconsciously to the touch of this person.
Dimitris sprung up, attempting to grip the throat of this person but they managed to leap back in time and the most fascinating thing about this was that Dimitris was unconscious.
Jason established with this that the person had an excellent reaction because there was no way for them to otherwise have perceived that attack.
Even he was caught off guard by it but what would the person do?
"Your friend is fine, he doesn’t have the mark," The person said before backing away from Dimitris.
"Mark?" Jason asked and the person nodded, despite their overwhelming advantage, they were quite cooperative.
There was no reason for them to even engage Jason in conversation because there was nothing that he could do to harm him in this scenario.
"You may leave," The person said but Jason was wondering if he didn’t desire the fragment like he did.
"What do you mean to leave, you injured him! At least provide us a place to stay!" Jason barked.
"Injured, that injury wasn’t caused by one of mine..." The person responded.
"What do you mean it wasn’t caused by one of yours?" Jason questioned and he noticed from the aura of this person that they weren’t lying.
"I’m not responsible but I understand your plight, come with me," The person responded but with this new development, Jason hoped that the others were safe.

Glenn and Carl had managed to get rid of the runner zombie but this didn’t mean that the danger had passed.
There were still dangers lurking and something or someone was watching them.
Glenn was all out of ammunition so he was in his most vulnerable state and then it happened.
Someone intercepted them but it wasn’t a zombie, it was a tall red-haired man, he was easily taller than Jason.
Glenn looked around because he was expecting more people but there weren’t any.
He pointed his gun towards the person, he didn’t know who he was but it was safe to assume he was a threat.
"I know you don’t have bullets" He said but Glenn knew he had to bluff because there was no way for him to have noticed this unless he was watching them.
But Carl thought quickly and brought out a pistol on him, he had never killed anyone but this man didn’t know that.
"Do you want to take that same gamble with me?" Carl barked and Glenn was surprised because Carl had been rather shaken up ever since the zombie nearly killed them.
But this wasn’t a zombie, this was a person like them and the look in Carl’s eyes even had Glenn convinced that he was willing to pull the trigger.
"Go ahead, shoot me in the head," The man called his bluff once again as he began to walk towards them.
Carl took a few steps forward and before anyone knew it, a loud gunshot echoed.
"Carl..." Glenn muttered and Carl was surprised that there was a gunshot because he hadn’t even pulled the trigger yet.
Carl jerked his head in Glenn’s direction only to see blood accumulate around his torso.
"GLENN!" Carl screamed at the top of his lungs, catching Glenn before he could hit the ground.
Carl wasn’t the one that shot but rather, the accomplice of this man.
"You see, I have a sniper positioned on you. If you act recklessly, I promise you the bullet won’t just graze your friend," The man said and Carl realized that the bullet grazed him from behind, it wasn’t fatal but the wound was deep enough to cause him physical pain.
"C-Carl, run..." Glenn whispered to the young man but Carl had no plans on leaving the person that had saved him even though that would be the best course of action.
"I cannot leave you, there is no telling if I can even get away. I don’t know how many of them there are..." Carl replied in a hushed tone.
He was right, trying to escape and failing would be the worst possible outcome.
"What do you people want?" Carl took charge of the conversation but the man wasn’t impressed with the child.
"What do we want? It is who we want..." The man responded and Carl raised a brow because this was their first encounter.
There was no way that they could want anyone that they had, there must be some mistake somewhere but he was going to play along.
"Who do you want then? Look, we don’t want any trouble," Carl responded, Glenn watched the young boy handle the conversation effortlessly.
It was a relief, to say the least, because it showed he was capable of handling himself in a conversation.
"He is a tall guy with dark hair..." The man said and Carl couldn’t believe this description because it matched Jason.
However, there could be tons of people with this description so Carl had to stall for time.
"Tall? How tall are we talking?" Carl responded.
"Don’t try to play smart with me, he has red eyes and he was in the car that crashed," The man said and this was when Carl knew that it was Jason without a doubt.
These people have been watching them but how?" Glenn thought; that Carl had done enough.
"W-What do you want with him?" Glenn took over the conversation, he didn’t want Carl to slip up and say something that would get them killed.
There was no longer any point in stalling, these people were aware of who they wanted.
"We wish to consume him," The man said while opening his mouth and pointing towards it.
This was such a barbaric thing to say but Glenn assumed he was messing with him.
"You look surprised, don’t you know what he is?" The man asked, noticing Glenn’s facial expression.
"Um... A person?" Glenn responded with a raised brow, trying to lessen the tension in the air.
The man chuckled but he had no business with Glenn or Carl.
"Tell me where he is and you both can be on your way," The man said but then he just froze up like he had gotten some kind of message.
"On second thought, I don’t think that would be necessary," Jason had entered his range and he could now approximate where he was.
This was what happened when two evolved people came together, they sent out a stronger signal, making it possible for people to perceive them from an even greater range.
"We will be taking one of you for insurance but we will be killing the other. I will let you people decide," The tall man said and this was when Glenn knew he had to step in.
He picked up Carl’s gun and simultaneously pushed the young man, who proceeded to tumble from the high ground they were on, this would not only take him out of sight of the sniper but the sniper would deem him the immediate threat meaning that it couldn’t snipe him during the fall.
Carl hit the floor and was dazed but a gunshot echoed; there was no telling who pulled the trigger due to Carl’s disoriented hearing.
Carl knew he didn’t have time to think and took the chance at survival that Glenn had given him, crossing his fingers, hoping that Glenn managed to get away.
But that wasn’t the case unfortunately, Glenn lay on the floor in a puddle of his own blood, the bullet this time had pierced right through his stomach, he managed to let off a shot but missed his target.
"S-Survive... Carl..." Before another gunshot echoed.
