Chapter 225: Sam And Sanders
Chapter 225: Sam And Sanders
Sam had been found at long last but there was something different about him.
He didn’t look the same and it was clear that he had let himself go but considering what Sam had said.
It was clear he had a run-in with them.
"Hey, wake the fuck up!" Sam blurted out, kicking Sanders right across the face.
He wanted to know what they were looking for and why they were still following him even though he had renounced his allegiance to the military making him a defector.
Sander’s feet were wobbly but he managed to stand.
He looked at Sam and gritted his teeth in anger.
"Y-You monster..." Sanders blurted out, charging at Sam but it was clear that this was an action influenced by rage.
Sam landed a powerful punch into his torso, forcing the disoriented Colonel to his knees before pointing a gun right to his head.
"Do you know what monsters do?" Sam asked before turning his gun to the Colonel’s unconscious man and placing a bullet in each of their head.
"A monster will take everything but you," Sam said before pistol-whipping the man.
There was no telling the kind of person Sam had become but he had finally embraced the darkness that lurked in his heart.
"I-I am not here for you," Sanders managed to let out these words before Sam could pull the trigger.
"What do you mean you’re not here for me?" Sam questioned, his voice filled with scepticism.
Sanders was impressed that he was alive but why was he living like prey? Hidden underground in this filthy place hardly seemed like the ideal life.
"This was a coincidence, we’re after someone even more dangerous!" Sanders relayed his urgency.
He had come across Sam a couple of months ago and identified him as military personnel but Sam was a controversial soldier who had a previous order to dishonourably discharge and court martial him overturned for reasons unknown.
Sanders investigated and realized that Sam had not only killed soldiers in his camp but it is believed that he would sacrifice his comrades to complete the mission.
The motto leaves no man behind didn’t apply to him.
Sanders was glad when he came across him but unknown to him, the world had taken the only thing keeping him in check and that was Clementine.
Sam knew Sanders was a pain in the ass but he didn’t know the man to be a liar.
"Who are you looking for?" Sam asked.
"The man that started it all," Sanders responded but Sam was confused because he was sure that that man had died long ago.
"I’m looking for Doctor Schneider!" Sanders revealed but Sam immediately lowered his gun upon hearing this name.
"Schneider cannot be alive," Sam repeated but Sanders was holding onto this hope.
"Sam, what are you hiding from?" Sanders thought to himself, that there was no doubt that there was something above that had forced him underground and Sanders doubted that it was another person.
Sam took on the military and won, there is no force greater than the military, not even the zombies.
Sanders knew that there would be consequences to running into this man and Sam had killed his men, isolating him but Sanders wondered if Sam killed the others as well.
Sanders needed to stall for time because Sam had eliminated his search party so it was pointless to continue this mission regardless.
-
Clementine was in a one-on-one situation with Jones, she knew she had to play the damsel and couldn’t blue her cover otherwise.
Jones pushed her up against a wall and tried to kiss but he shoved him slightly to tell him she wasn’t ready.
Jones stopped immediately, an act that surprised her because she was certain that he would be forceful with her considering that there was nothing she could do to stop him or at least, that should be what he thought.
"I’m sorry about the guys earlier," Jones apologized.
"It’s fine but can we take it slow?" Clementine suggested and the moment she did, Jones took his hands off her.
Clementine instantly knew that this man wasn’t as experienced with women as she thought.
That meant he was susceptible to being manipulated just as Clementine hoped.
"Take it slow? Does that mean you actually like me?" Jones asked, hopefully of a positive response.
He sounded like a kid and Clementine was beginning to realize that this person might be new to the military as he didn’t have the aura of a soldier.
That meant that the chances that he just joined were extremely high but what skills could this person possibly have?
Clementine placed her hand on top of his to reassure him to pass on a nonverbal message of interest.
"I mean, you’re the cutest soldier here so I wish to know more about you," Clementine said and to a man, this was the ultimate ego booster because rarely do they have a woman who’s truly interested in knowing about them, especially the average-below average looking man.
The man looked down with a smile but Clementine realized that this would be a lot easier than she had anticipated.
"I’m so glad I found this place, it feels so safe but I don’t understand why the military is choosing to take in citizens. Wouldn’t that weigh on them in the long run?" Clementine asked but the man’s demeanor changed.
"The military’s function has always been to serve the people," Jones responded but this felt like a generic reply. Clementine doubted his words but she also knew that not knowing how to converse with a woman might be an act because a woman is also more prone to drop her guard around a man she deemed gullible.
She wasn’t going to let down her guard because her gut feeling was telling her to be careful.
This man might not be here for sex but to figure out what she knew or wanted.
"You’re right," Clementine responded, bringing an abrupt end to the conversation but what were going to do with him now that they were alone?
