Chapter 270: Human Or Not?
Chapter 270: Human Or Not?
Sam found himself in a strange location, he didn’t know what these people were doing but he knew he had to be careful as they were fucking with nature.
He had no interest in being caught in the middle but he knew he had to take this place down and slaughter everyone within it before they created a monster that they were incapable of stopping.
Sam had first-hand experience with this as the monster he fought nearly claimed his life even though this was an extreme spot.
Sam walked in the emptied-out hallway, counting his steps as he looked around to make sure that there was no one around.
"AARRRGGHH! WHERE THE FUCK IS EVERYONE ALREADY!?" Sam screamed at the top of his lungs to alert anyone within listening range.
And it worked because he could hear hurried footsteps heading right towards him and Sam smirked upon realizing that they were coming to him.
They came to the location but they couldn’t see anyone, they looked around but there was nothing in sight but there were signs that Sam was there.
"Search the area!" One of the men commanded but unknown to them, Sam was hanging on the ceiling like a spider.
He dropped down and ambushed one of the men, they were dressed in a unique uniform that showed that they weren’t normal civilians.
Sam knocked him out in one fell swoop before dragging his body out of sight however there was little he could do considering how the place was.
The walls were sticky but Sam worried that this might be the result of their experiment.
He had to get rid of them and burn this place to the ground but luckily, the person he had taken out had a gun.
Something that Sam gladly took but this wasn’t all, Sam fired a single bullet through the person’s skull for one simple reason alone and that was to announce that one of them had fallen.
Sam dashed in the direction that they had initially come from and encountered two people but before they could even register his presence enough to open fire.
Sam slid across the ground to force them to miss their shots before placing a bullet through their forehead.
"Bullseyes!" Sam exclaimed with a wide smile on his face; this was him having fun but Sam still didn’t know what it was that took him.
There was no way that it was a person either so he had to be careful about how he approached this but how and why did they target him?
Sam finally saw a door but to his surprise, this door wasn’t guarded or protected betraying that whatever that was within wasn’t either important or it was too dangerous to be around.
Either way, Sam had one thing on his mind, he was going to breach it.
Sam kicked in the door without hesitation and it was just as he suspected, there were multiple creatures of differing sizes.
Insects that were the sizes of humans, Sam didn’t know how this was possible but he saw that they were feeding on people.
Dead, alive, and even the undead, they didn’t discriminate which was strange as the dead never showed interest in the undead.
They noticed Sam and immediately charged towards him, Sam wanted to retreat but a spider that was twice his size descended from above, blocking his only escape route.
Sam didn’t know what to make of this but there was something strange that occurred within Sam,
It happened a couple of months ago when the doctor was still running experiments.
Sam watched him, he had no limbs to conduct anything so he was the one helping him to carry out these actions.
Sam did this because he knew it would bring him closer to understanding what they were dealing with but he also discovered something disturbing.
The undead each had varying distinctions, none were truly the same and if left long enough, they would gain an individuality that extends beyond human brains.
He thought this was exclusive to humans but he was beginning to understand that evolution didn’t discriminate but the spiders were no match for him.
Sam killed every single thing in the room in a couple of minutes, drenched in their blood as he exited the area with nothing but his gun.
Sam saw the people outside, they were speechless but they knew that there was something wrong with Sam.
They couldn’t explain it but this person was no longer human; was this a metaphor for his strength or was Sam something other than human?
He was injured and yet the way he moved defied logic, it didn’t matter how strong he was this should be an impossibility.
Did the doctor somehow alter Sam’s genes and that was why he was able to find him?
Was that why Sam was hiding for so long despite having the strength to face the zombie?
There were so many unanswered questions but Sam killed everyone and set the place ablaze.
He had successfully lost Sanders as well and he checked his wounds, they weren’t looking as bad as they were a few moments ago.
"Did they treat me?" Sam thought to himself, not quite sure what was going on but he wasn’t one to complain.
Sam now understood that they needed to find a way to eradicate the zombies or they just might become prey.

Clementine gathered tools and supplies, the army thought that they had a recruit but Clementine managed to gather information from the soldier she had seduced on day 1.
He told her all she needed to know about Sanders and where they were headed.
She didn’t wish to stay here because this place rubbed her the wrong way but she had confirmed that Sam was alive.
This was the only thing she needed to know but before she departed, she had a conversation with Anderson, who told her everything.
Sam had saved his life by rushing into a burning building but Anderson was surprised by this action considering that Sam was a man who disposed of people he considered a liability.
Clementine also found this strange, it was unlike Sam but this wasn’t the most disturbing part of the story.
"What do you mean he never came out?" Clementine questioned.
"Sam never left the building..." Anderson reiterated.
