Chapter 333: The Perks of Having the Perfect Partner
Chapter 333: The Perks of Having the Perfect Partner
Sometime later...
——
"So that’s what happened..." Aika muttered with a deep frown as she lay flat on her back on the large bed, looking up at the intricate crystal chandelier hanging from the high ceiling.
...After she had brought Cedric back to life right on this bed, rather than explain, he just let her take a look at his memory of what had happened that night.
Finally, everything clicked into place. She understood why Seo-yeon had done those things, and exactly what had transpired afterward. But more than that, the strange memory she had recalled some time ago began to make a bit more sense to her. Cedric really was that God, reborn into the world as Kim Min-jin.
Aika sighed as she turned to look at him.
At the moment, although she could see that he was hurting terribly inside, he looked like he didn’t want to talk about it.
Still, she felt worried for him, so she opened her mouth as if to offer some comfort, but the moment Cedric caught her look, he quickly pushed himself upright.
Then, he moved to sit on the very edge of the large mattress, admiring the luxurious bedchamber for a few moments before turning back to Aika.
"Where are we?" he asked in a casual, curious voice.
She was quiet for a brief second, before exhaling. Then she smiled and shrugged casually. "One of our houses."
"Huh? One of our what now?"
Cedric blinked, completely caught off guard.
Aika didn’t elaborate right away and instead, began to crawl closer to him on the mattress.
"We now have a few properties across the empire." She sat cross-legged, and tilting her head to let her long hair cascade over her shoulder, she rested her chin on her palm. "I got us a club in Fashkire because I like gambling a lot, you know. Then I got us a sprawling vacation estate in the valleys of Eldervale."
She smiled slyly. "Currently we are in our townhouse in the upper Oakshaven district."
Cedric was absolutely stupefied.
He blinked, tilted his head in disbelief, and rubbed his temple as his brows knitted together. In the end, he couldn’t help but blurt out, "I was dead for only a couple days and we became somewhat rich?!"
"A couple days?" Aika scowled, crossing her arms. "Tsk. You were gone for more than a month, dummy. Did you expect I’d just sit on my bum doing nothing the whole time?"
’A month?’
Cedric was a bit surprised. It didn’t feel like a month at all. But then, thinking about it, he figured that it was not that time flowed differently in the Anchor; rather, it was that one’s perception of time there was completely warped.
Still...
Cedric arched a brow. "How did you get all that money, anyway?"
Aika waved a hand casually. "We have subjects of influence who are able to wake up to a new day because of our existence, isn’t that right? So I figured... why not get them to thank us for it properly?"
Cedric tilted his head back in understanding as he could tell where the conversation was going.
Aika grinned.
"The first person I shook down was Le—" she paused and teased. "’Your brother.’ After bringing the chicken back to life, I had him multiply what he owed us several fold. Instead of two hundred and fifty gold, I got twenty-five thousand gold from him."
Cedric’s jaw dropped slightly.
"Trust me, he was more~ than happy to give me that." She arched a brow and looked devious, "I also told him we needed a place. So, he gifted me the estate in Eldervale."
She looked around the room as she continued, "This particular townhouse was gifted to me by Alicia after I asked her to give me a place in the central city."
’Ah...’
Cedric bobbed his head back again and this time, a smile was spreading across his face.
"As for the club in Fashkire?" Aika’s expression lit up. "I saw it, liked it, and decided to have a look. Luckily, thank heavens, it belonged to a Baron whose son is one of our subjects of influence. So I paid the boy a visit and told him in my very polite way that I liked it, and he got it for me the next day."
Cedric was so stunned and impressed that he didn’t speak for a few seconds. Eventually, he reached out a hand to Aika and patted her head softly a few times as he spoke.
"Good girl. I’m so proud of you for all the work you put in while I was out."
Aika smiled, grabbed his wrist, and gently put it down.
"Wait till the good part."
"Eh?" Cedric arched a brow. "There’s more?"
"Mm-hm." She straightened and using both hands, she put her hair behind her ears. "After the war in the first ring, I figured that we are really close to leveling up our summoning skill. So when I got here, I had Athena spend lots of her time in this world doing all the good stuff I couldn’t give a damn about."
Cedric suddenly grew excited. "Wait... don’t tell me..."
Aika smiled and turned to the side where a screen appeared in both their vision.

’It’s leveled up!’
Cedric felt a surge of excitement when he read the profile.
It seemed that more than just the real estate portfolio, Aika had done so much more in his absence. She had been gathering experience points, and she had clearly done a lot of questionable things to force their negative karma to grow to this point.
But ultimately, she had ensured their third skill had leveled up. That meant he could now bring another summon to life.
What a magnificent partner she was!
